Ben Poor
Our New Student Rabbi
Ben Poor is a rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, where he expects to be ordained at the Los Angeles campus in 2027. Before HUC, Ben worked as a community organizer with T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston, supporting rabbis and lay leaders to build communities and take action rooted in their collective values and interests. In his year in Israel, Ben took part in the Rabbinical Student Seminar at the Shalom Hartman Institute and the New Israel Fund’s Elissa Froman Social Change Fellowship. Committed to a model of Judaism rooted in relationships, humility, and curiosity, Ben has also worked as an educator with learners of all ages. Ben grew up outside Seattle, WA, and graduated from Occidental College in 2015. When he is not on the bimah or in the classroom, Ben enjoys exploring nature, reading short stories, and finding the best ice cream wherever he goes.
